Police Civilian Review Panel Hosting Public Forums
Nov. 6, 2017
The Fairfax County Police Civilian Review Panel invites the public to connect at two public forums to meet panel members, hear an overview of the complaint process and receive direct feedback.
Thursday, Nov. 16 Public Forum, 7 - 9 p.m.
Heritage Human Services Center
7611 Little River Turnpike
Annandale, VA 22003
Tuesday, Dec. 12 Public Forum, 7 - 9 p.m.
Reston Community Center
Hunters Woods Village Center
2310 Colts Neck Road
Reston, VA 20191
At each public forum, the Civilian Review Panel will respond to questions about the complaint form and the independent auditor and Civilian Review Panel processes. There will be a 45-minute period for audience participation. Written comments may also be submitted by mail or email (see contact information below).
Those wishing to speak may sign up at each forum on a first-come, first-served basis. Ten time slots of three minutes each are available for attendees to comment on issues related to the panel’s or auditor’s jurisdiction (comments on specific police complaints may not be presented). The Civilian Review Panel will be listening to and recording comments for further investigation, but will not offer responses at the forum.
Use the link below for form information about the form to
submit a complaint. The same form is used for the independent
auditor or review panel.
Fairfax County is committed to providing transparency in all police investigatory matters. As part of this continuing effort, the Police Civilian Review Panel and Independent Police Auditor were created following Ad Hoc Police Practices Review Commission recommendation, consistent with Virginia law, that would help our county to achieve its goal of maintaining a safe community, ensuring our policies provide for the fair and timely resolution of police-involved incidents.
