Economic Indicators: Some Good News to End the Year

The latest economic indicators report is out and you can see what’s up and what’s down in our local economy. We end 2015 with some good news and several ups. These monthly reports also serve as one of the tools used by our budget staff and the Board of Supervisors to make decisions on the county’s budget.


What’s Up

Sales tax receipts in Fairfax County were up 0.9 percent for four-month period of July to October.

The number of homes sold in Fairfax County in October increased 8.5 percent from a year ago. And, 2015 home sales were up 10.5 percent through October.

The average sales price of all homes sold in Fairfax County increased 2.7 percent in October 2015 compared to the average sales price in October 2014.

The number of active listings of homes for sale in the county increased 12.1 percent in October from a year ago.
