“Five for Free” Services in November
The holidays are soon upon us and as the gift lists get longer and the trips to the supermarket start adding up, we are all looking for some free stuff. Here’s what we have for November:
Get the kids out of the house during the upcoming holidays (or escape the relatives). The free interactive Fairfax Trail Buddy is a web-based mapping tool that allows you to discover the extensive network of Fairfax County Park trails. Bring your smartphone, click on the link and off you go.
Who doesn’t love watching baby animals?! No need to drive to the zoo, we have the cutest animals right here in our county. Even better, the “awww” and “Mommy, look at that cute baby pig” are free. Check out the new arrivals and then head over to Kidwell Barn at Frying Pan Park.
Our caregivers are often invisible heroes who are taking care of aging parents, children with disabilities and others. If you are a caregiver, resources and help are just a phone call away. The Aging, Disability and Caregiver Resources Line is a free service; multiple language support is available. Call 703-324-7948, TTY 711.
There is so much to learn about the environment! And we have the experts who want to teach you about our environment and how to take care of it. Free presentations are available to organizations and schools.
Are you a podcast junkie, always looking for a podcast to listen to in the car or on a run? We offer free podcasts called the County Conversation, which cover a number of topics from consumer tips to farmers markets and the ins and outs of the car tax.
