Pohick Regional Library in Burke will close for renovations on Saturday, Sept. 5, at 5 p.m. for approximately 18 months.

While Pohick Regional Library is closed, two nearby community library branches, Kings Park Library and Burke Centre Library, will extend their hours beginning Sunday, Sept. 13, until the renovated Pohick Regional Library reopens.

Due dates for library books and other items will be adjusted based on the closing date. Library customers can no longer select Pohick Regional Library as their pick up library for holds. Materials borrowed from Pohick Regional Library can be returned to any Fairfax County Public Library.

Renovation Plans

The majority of the funding for the $7.1 million renovation comes from a 2012 bond referendum that voters approved. Renovations will include:

  • new exterior and interior design features
  • upgrades to building systems
  • energy efficiency improvements
  • upgrades to power and technology options such as more public access computers and wireless networking
