The positions to be filled are Teacher 1 (Day Care Center Teacher 1) with the School Age Child Care Program in the Office for Children, Department of Neighborhood and Community Services.  See below for additional details.

Position: Teacher 1 (Day Care Center Teacher 1)


$18.88 /hour, benefits eligible.*


*This position may not exceed 1560 hours per calendar year. Individuals in these positions are eligible for limited employee benefits, including medical, vision, and dental insurance coverage, and participation in flexible spending programs but are not eligible to earn leave or receive holiday pay.

Job Responsibilities

Plans, prepares and carries out activities and projects for groups of elementary school-age children enrolled in an after-school program. Provides leadership and ensures the safety of the children enrolled in the center.

Locations and Schedule

SACC centers are located throughout Fairfax County. Work afternoons and evenings, 30 hours per week, Monday through Friday for 40 weeks, with winter and spring break off. Occasional flexible work hours and full days required (teacher workdays, delayed openings, early releases, etc.).

Minimum Qualifications

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to completion of two years of study and training at an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in early childhood or elementary education, nursing, recreation or a related field plus one year of related work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Major course work in early childhood education. Experience working with groups of children. Bilingual ability.
