Driving range renovations are now underway, causing closure of the Oak Marr Golf Complex’s driving range. This driving range, owned and operated by the Fairfax County Park Authority, will be significantly improved. The current, fully-lighted 78 hitting station range with 30 covered and/or heated stations will be upgraded with regrading for improved drainage and playability, new target greens, Bermuda sod and an updated irrigation system.
The range closed at the beginning of July. Golfers are invited to visit one of the other Park Authority ranges at Burke Lake, Laurel Hill or Twin Lakes golf courses this summer/fall. Enhancements are expected to be completed by September 2018.
“These much needed upgrades will enhance the customer practice and learning experiences as well as assist in the overall maintenance and longevity of the range,” said Oak Marr General Manager Andy Elkins.
The fun and challenging 9-hole par 3 golf course will remain open during construction. Short game programming and instruction will continue during construction.
The project is being funded through the 2012 Park Bond and other bond-related sources.
