Discover flying squirrels and lovesick woodcocks in park programs on Saturday, February 22, 2020.
At the “Family Woodcock Walk” at Huntley Meadows Park, listen for the call of the male woodcock and hopefully see his amazing courtship display and flight. Be ready for an approximately 1.5-mile walk on uneven terrain, and don’t forget to bring a flashlight. This event is designed for family members age six to adult and runs from 4:30 to 6 p.m. The cost is $8 per person. Children must be accompanied by a registered adult.

At Hidden Oaks Nature Center, join a naturalist who be calling in flying squirrels. Look for these amazing night gliders at roosting boxes near the nature center and learn what you can do to attract flying squirrels to your yard. This program is designed for family members age four to adult. It runs from 7:15 to 8:15 p.m., and the cost is $7 per person. Children must be accompanied by a registered adult.
