Northern Virginia Soil and Water Conservation District Holds Annual Seedling Sale

Native PlantsGet ready to beautify your garden. The Northern Virginia Soil and Water Conservation District (NVSWCD), a longtime partner in environmental stewardship, is having its annual seedling sale starting on Feb. 2, 2021.

The trees and shrubs are native to Virginia and are available at a low cost to Fairfax County residents.

NVSWCD selected the seedlings with advice from the Fairfax County Urban Forestry Management Division and the Virginia Department of Forestry. This year, selected species will enhance the urban forestry understory and promote natives on smaller lots.

Two packages are available: super shrubs and tiny trees, and space savers and bountiful berries. Packages are $17 each.

Go to NVSWCD's Native Seedling Sale website to order and for pickup information.

You can also help the Virginia Department of Forestry by adding the seedlings you planted to the My Tree Counts app at The department of forestry needs help counting all the trees and shrubs that were planted through NVSWCD’s seedling sale, as well as other trees planted over the next four years. You can include all the trees and shrubs you planted since Oct. 1, 2020.

Call the Northern Virginia Soil and Water Conservation District at 703-324-1420.
