“Drone 101” to Offer Tips and Demos for Drone Enthusiasts
Drones have recently surged in popularity, but there are lots of rules that govern their use. The Fairfax County Park Authority (FCPA) and the DC Area Drone Users Group (DUG) are offering a program to help enthusiasts get the most from their drones and avoid penalties that can result from misuse. This is your opportunity to get in the know!
The Park Authority will host its first-ever discussion and hands-on flight demo of these small, un-manned aircraft systems at the South Run District Park field house on Monday, September 18, 2017 at 7 p.m. Members of DUG will provide a short “Drone 101” orientation. It will address topics such as Federal Aviation Administration’s regulation of drones and airspace, basic safety, the “dos and don’ts” of flying a drone, and the difference between hobbyists and commercial drone operators.
Following the presentation, participants will have the opportunity to conduct short indoor flights of drones provided by DUG members. No registration is required to participate in the events.
South Run District Park is located at 7550 Reservation Dr., Springfield, VA. For more information, call 703-866-0566 or visit South Run District Park.
