The Fairfax County Park Authority will begin construction on a project to repair, replace, and resurface approximately 1,200 linear feet of multi-use asphalt trail at Jefferson District Park. The project will begin shortly and those who live near or visit the park or use these trails may be inconvenienced during construction.

Fairfax County Park Authority staff and the contractor, Finley Asphalt & Sealing, Inc., will be mobilizing on site within the next week to begin construction.  Construction will take approximately two weeks and access to the site will be from Hyson Lane with construction staging located within the Jefferson District Park parking lot. This project is funded through proffer dollars allocated to Jefferson District Park in 2012.  Total construction costs are approximately $43,000.

Residents should expect occasional construction traffic and equipment entering the parking lot and a portion of parking spaces blocked off during construction.  In addition, construction equipment will be present on the trail during construction. As a safety precaution, portions of the existing trail system will be intermittently closed to users during the project and these areas will be posted accordingly.
