Explore the Moon and Black Holes at Observatory Park
As the days grow shorter, turn your eyes to the night sky with classes and viewing sessions at the roll-top observatory at Turner Farm.
On Wednesday, October 25, 2017, explore the moon from here on earth with a program from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Observatory Park. Using a high-powered telescope, explore lunar craters and lava flows that are billions of years old. See where the Apollo moon landings occurred and discuss what the astronauts found. This session meets rain or shine, with alternate viewing sessions available for cloudy days. The program is for ages 8 through adult and costs $8 per person.
On Thursday, October 26, it’s time for the monthly Astronomy for Family Fun program. There’s a different topic at each session, and in October the subject will be black holes. Look through the observatory’s telescopes to learn more about all kinds of celestial happenings. This program is geared for ages 6 through adult. Programs run from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The cost is $10 per person.
