Jason runs the Rock N Roll Marathon

Dear Audrey Moore RECenter Fitness Instructors Jeff Burden, Hank Brown, Jill Foster, Julie Mackin, Meredith Kain, Steve Boyer, and Zak McNamara:

I wanted to send you all an e-mail to thank you for the help you have given me over the past couple months. One of my important life goals was to run a marathon before I turned 30, so I signed up for the Rock "N" Roll Marathon as a 29th birthday gift to myself in November. Within a month I realized how important cross-training would be and signed up at Wakefield for the group fitness classes. I was extremely impressed that each and every one of you knew my name, my goal to complete the race, and how to help me before I even finished your first class. I am also extremely grateful that each one of you took the time to ask me about my progress during each class. I am proud to report I completed the race last weekend in 4:01:47.

I wanted to send you all a thank you note together because each and every one of you played an important role helping me complete my first marathon. The effort needed to get through back-to-back-to-back Saturday spin classes was a great asset for building cardiovascular strength, and the yoga and strengthen and lengthen classes were a great asset for keeping me uninjured and able to recover quickly. Please keep up the great work, and expect to see me in your classes for as long as I live in this area!

One final thing I wanted to share is that I thought of each and every one of you when I reached mile 20 because at that moment I knew I had the energy and stamina to complete the race. At that moment, I held up one finger, smiled for the camera, and said "Only 1 more 10 K to go and I got this!"

Wakefield is like a second home to me because I look forward to the classes each and every day. Thank you very much for all you do!!

Jason Kain
