FAIRFAX, VA. – Show your appreciation for Fairfax County’s waste and recycling workers through a creative contest kicking off during National Waste and Recycling Workers Week, from June 17-21. Residents are invited to express their gratitude in imaginative ways to honor the hardworking men and women who keep our neighborhoods clean and safe.
Residents are encouraged to participate by:
- Creating colorful chalk drawings on sidewalks or driveways.
- Crafting heartfelt signs and banners.
- Attaching thank-you notes to trash or recycling carts.
- Capturing moments of children waving to the collection crew.
Photos of these creative efforts can be submitted to trashmail@fairfaxcounty.gov. The most inventive idea may be selected to decorate a trash or recycling container, and all entries will be shared on the county’s Facebook page.
The contest starts on June 17 and ends on June 20. This initiative aims to boost the morale of waste and recycling workers by showing them how much their efforts are valued by the community.
Join us in making this National Waste and Recycling Workers Week truly special by grabbing your chalk, paint, or markers, and letting our waste and recycling workers know how much you appreciate them.
