Fairfax County, Va – New educational signs have been installed at Rocky Branch Tributary in Ashlawn Park. This collaboration between the DPWES Stormwater Management team and the Park Authority aims to enhance public understanding of the stream restoration project in the area.
"These signs help the community understand the stream restoration project here,” said Freshwater Ecologist Danielle Wynne. The signs provide detailed information about the project's features, including the pocket wetland, a key component of the restoration effort.
The signs are designed to resonate with residents and promote environmental stewardship. “We’re looking forward to installing more signs across Fairfax County’s stream restorations,” Wynne added. The signs are part of a broader effort to foster community engagement and awareness about environmental conservation. By providing accessible information about local projects, Fairfax County hopes to encourage residents to become active stewards of their local stream systems.
