(Trifolium pratense & T. repens)

Description

Red and White Clovers are perennial
plants with compound leaves usually
with three leaflets. Red Clover grows tall
and has a red to purple bloom. White
Clover grows along the ground and has
a white bloom.

Distribution and Habitat

Clover is found in sunny open areas and

can tolerate poor soils. It is very common

in lawns. It is also planted by farmers in

fields since it takes nitrogen from the air

and puts it into the soil. This process,

known as nitrogen fixation, helps to

keep the soil healthy. Clover is

common in all five physiographic Four-leaf clovers (or more
provinces. appropriately named four-leaflet
