SPOTLIGHT PROJECTS

DPWES has selected the following projects to spotlight with detailed information regarding background, benefits, and what to expect.

Sunset Hills Road Drainage Improvement Project Sunset Hills Road Drainage Improvement Project This project will reduce flooding upstream of the Washington and Old Dominion Railroad Regional Park around Sunset Hills Road near Isaac Newton Square W in Reston. Hunter Mill District Difficult Run
Tripps Run at Barrett Road Flood Mitigation Project Tripps Run at Barrett Road Flood Mitigation Project This study assessed and evaluated four flood mitigation project scenarios including grading and stream enhancements along Tripps Run between Annandale Road and Sleepy Hollow Road. Tucker Avenue Neighborhood Stormwater Improvement Project Tucker Avenue Neighborhood Stormwater Improvement Project This neighborhood stormwater improvement project will evaluate existing drainage and stormwater infrastructure throughout the neighborhoods in the vicinity of Tucker Avenue and within a 67 acre drainage area that leads to the local stream, Pimmit Run. Turkeycock Creek at Brookside Office Park Stream Restoration Turkeycock Creek at Brookside Office Park Stream Restoration Stabilize approximately 300 linear feet of Turkeycock Creek to minimize erosion.  Project includes installation of a retaining wall to protect existing infrastructure. Valley Avenue Neighborhood Stormwater Improvements Valley Avenue Neighborhood Stormwater Improvements This project will evaluate existing drainage and stormwater infrastructure in the vicinity of Valley and Fairview Avenues and Cross Street. The primary goals of the project are to mitigate structural flooding and improve resiliency of the drainage system. Dranesville District Pimmit Run
