Adult Detention Center - How to Schedule an Inmate Visit

EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY, PERSONAL VISITING IS SUSPENDED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE TO HELP PREVENT THE SPREAD OF CORONAVIRUS. All inmates will be given two FREE 15-minute phone calls per week in lieu of personal visiting. Please do not come to the Adult Detention Center or the Alternative Incarceration Branch.

COVID-19 (Coronavirus)

Based on recommendations from the Fairfax County Health Department and the CDC, the Sheriff’s Office has implemented cleaning and safety protocols and is following guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the Adult Detention Center.

In unoccupied areas, we are using a hospital grade mister that kills bacteria and viruses. In high touch areas, including walls, doors, doorknobs and elevators, we are using cleaning products that are certified to kill bacteria and viruses. Our personal visiting area will be cleaned with the hospital grade mister on Mondays and wiped down the following day.

We are also running a message at the bottom of the TVs in every cell block. The message emphasizes to inmates the need to frequently wash their hands with soap and water as the best way to avoid the virus. We remind them to wash before and after attending programs, before and after visiting, before and after meals, and after they use the restroom.

If an arrestee is brought to the ADC exhibiting any symptoms of COVID-19 or has traveled to one of five countries (China, Iran, Italy, Korea or Japan) within the past two weeks, a nurse will conduct a more in-depth screening. If the nurse determines the person may be infected with COVID-19, the nurse will place a mask on the individual, who will be isolated in a receiving cell after the booking process is completed. We will immediately contact the Health Department for consultation.

For the latest information on COVID-19, please see updates from the Health Department.

Visiting days are SATURDAY and SUNDAY, in 20 minute time slots that begin on the half-hour, starting at 9:30 a.m. The last time slot is 3:30 p.m. Inmates are allowed ONE visit per weekend. Visitors MUST BE PRESENT 30 minutes prior to their scheduled visit.

REMINDER: Visiting policy prohibits cell phones and cameras in the visiting area. Any person violating this policy will have his or her visiting privileges suspended. Please review all personal visiting rules before you schedule a visit. There are no exceptions to the visiting policy.

The deadline to schedule your visit for the upcoming weekend is 3:30 p.m. on THURSDAY, unless otherwise noted above or on the web form. Requests for the following weekend will not be accepted until after 3 p.m. on Friday. Online scheduling is fast and easy. Your request will be approved or denied via email, usually within two business days. If you use the online scheduling form, do NOT come to the Adult Detention Center unless you receive an emailed confirmation approving your visit.

If you do not have access to email, you may schedule your visit by calling the Sheriff’s Office at 703-246-3430, Monday through Friday, between 9 - 11 a.m. The phone line is often busy, but every attempt will be made to answer your call during those two hours. You will NOT receive written confirmation for telephone scheduling. [TTY for hearing impaired is 711.]

A third option is to schedule your visit in person. Walk-in scheduling is available at the Adult Detention Center's 1st floor (not the ground floor) information booth Monday through Thursday, from 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. and Friday from 8:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. The information booth is closed daily from 12-12:30 p.m. You will NOT receive written confirmation for walk-in scheduling.

Professional Visiting

Inmates are allowed confidential, unscheduled visits with attorneys, probation officers, law enforcement officials and court-authorized behavioral health professionals.
