Citizen Commendation or Complaint

The Fairfax County Sheriff's Office does its best to recognize employees who provide exemplary service. Often, an employee's supervisor will submit his or her name for recognition. Additionally, community members or visitors to Fairfax County who have had a positive experience with a Fairfax County Deputy Sheriff or civilian employee are invited to share their positive experiences by submitting a commendation on the form below.

Sometimes, however, individuals may feel that a member of the Fairfax County Sheriff's Office has failed to meet the agency's high standards. In these situations, individuals are encouraged to file a formal citizen complaint.

The Fairfax County Sheriff's Office aggressively investigates all allegations or complaints lodged against deputies and other employees of the agency. The purpose of these investigations is to determine and examine all facts and circumstances relevant to the incident in question. Should such allegations be sustained as a result of the investigation, appropriate actions will be taken to prevent a future occurrence of the conduct.
