FAQs: Community Health Care Network Reston/Washington Plaza

On July 1, 2019 HealthWorks for Northern Virginia, a community health center, will begin providing medical services at the CHCN Reston/Washington Plaza building.

Here are answers to some questions you might have:

What does it mean that HealthWorks is now my medical provider? Will my CHCN card still work?
HealthWorks is a nonprofit community health center. We provide primary medical care, sick care, vaccinations, dental care and behavioral health counseling to all ages – newborn and up. HealthWorks has been providing health care services since 2007 – there is another HealthWorks center in Herndon. You will receive a new card from HealthWorks at the time of your first visit.

Can my children be seen at HealthWorks?
Yes, HealthWorks will see your entire family. If your children have been going to a different doctor than you, they can now be seen at HealthWorks.

What are the hours HealthWorks at Washington Plaza will be open?

The hours of operation will be:

  • Monday: 9:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m.

  • Tuesday through Friday:  8 a.m-5:30 p.m.

  • Closed Saturday and Sunday.

Will I see my same medical provider and behavioral health counselor?
Yes, you will likely see the same medical provider you are used to seeing. Counseling will also be provided at the Reston center.

How much will it cost for me to be seen at HealthWorks?    What happens if I cannot pay the fee?
HealthWorks provides very low cost care and most of our patients are low income. No patient at HealthWorks is ever denied health care services for inability to pay. We will work with you to make sure you can afford the care we provide.

Will I need to provide any proof of income?
When you come for your very first visit at HealthWorks, you will not need to provide any documents or proof of income.

What happens if I become insured?
You can still receive all of your health care services at HealthWorks.  We accept private insurance, Virginia Medicaid, and Medicare.

Will my medical records still be there?
Yes, your medical records will be transferred to HealthWorks so we will be able to see what medications you have been prescribed or other information that will help us continue your care.

How do I make my first appointment?
You may make your first appointment for HealthWorks by talking with the receptionist at the Reston office or calling 703-689-2180. Call this same number starting July 1.
