Aggressive Driving

With crowded, busy roads, aggressive driving is a troubling and dangerous problem in Fairfax County and across the metropolitan region. Some of the most visible acts of aggressive driving include:

  • Tailgating
  • Unsafe lane changes
  • Speeding
  • Running red lights and stop signs

  • Allow plenty of travel time
  • Maintain an adequate distance from the vehicle in front of you
  • Always used turn signals
  • Always come to a full stop at red lights and stop signs
  • Don’t run yellow lights: slow down instead
  • Let other drivers merge with you
  • Focus on driving; limit cell phone and stereo use
  • Use horn only for emergencies
  • Never engage in rude faces/gestures with other drivers/motorists
  • Extend common courtesy to other drivers at all times
