Reports and Recommendations

Reports

Reports are released periodically by the Office of the Independent Police Auditor (OIPA):

  • Individual "incident" reports for each FCPD investigation reviewed and monitored by the Independent Police Auditor.
  • Annual reports summarizing OIPA activities and recommendations on FCPD policies, training, and practices.
  • Additional reports, as needed, on relevant issues examined by the Auditor, which may include FCPD policy recommendations or data review findings.

Recommendations

The OIPA makes public recommendations to the Chief of Police concerning the revision of FCPD policies, training, and practices.

View a summary of OIPA recommendations made to date and the FCPD's response to each recommendation.

Additional information on recommendations made is provided in each incident report and in the OIPA's Annual Reports.

Commissioned Reports

OIPA facilitated a study by the University of Texas at San Antonio, in partnership with the University of Cincinnati, to identify patterns and trends in FCPD uses of force during 2016-2018 with emphasis on race and ethnicity. This multivariate statistical study analyzed the influence of civilian race, ethnicity, and other factors on force used by the FCPD, which is beyond the scope of OIPA’s data reviews.
