Inmate Visiting - Personal

Video visiting has replaced in-person visiting.

Inmate Visiting - Professional

Inmates are allowed confidential, visits with attorneys, probation officers and law enforcement officials during designated hours. Attorneys not admitted to practice in Virginia and other professional visitors must request prior approval. Professional visits may be conducted in person or via video.

Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) Reporting

Inmates are encouraged to report any allegations of sexual abuse or sexual harassment to a Sheriff's Office employee. If inmates do not feel comfortable making a report to an employee, they may have a friend or family member report the allegation on the inmate’s behalf.

Mental Health Initiatives and Diversion First

Sheriff Stacey Kincaid has implemented several changes in the Sheriff's Office that are focused on behavioral health issues which affect approximately 40 percent of our inmates. She also helped spearhead Diversion First.

Inmate Housing

The Adult Detention Center has four styles of inmate housing based on security levels and special needs: single cell, linear, podular and direct supervision.
