The Fairfax County Department of Transportation (FCDOT) will host a virtual public meeting to discuss a proposal to reconfigure Huntington Avenue in the Mount Vernon District on Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2024, at 7 p.m. The proposed plan includes:
- Repurposing two of the four lanes of vehicle traffic between Richmond Highway and Telegraph Road with buffered bike lanes
- Adding a center turn lane between Farrington Avenue and Hunting Creek Road
Staff from FCDOT will present proposed changes, provide additional information on road diets, answer questions and listen to feedback at the meeting.
The benefits of road diets include safety improvements, traffic calming, and better mobility access for all road users.
