Description: This feature class consists of fire box boundaries (updated Feb 2020) for the Fire & Rescue Department. These boundaries are used in the CAD system and are used to identify the backup fire station dispatch order.
This data set includes accurate fire box boundaries for Fairfax County and the City of Fairfax. Washington Dulles International Airport is not up-to-date. Other jurisdictions are included for dispatch purposes, but those box boundaries are not exact.
This feature class does not accuratey reflect the first due or a homogeneous run order. As boxes are edited for other reasons, 3-deep run orders are attempted. The edges of a box are more likely to deviate from the central 3-deep run order.
DPSC_Label is no longer being maintained.
Most recent changes listed first: Fire station 41 split (2/2020), Shopping malls(12/2019/, Rt 28 between Dulles and Fairfax, Arlington, Fort Belvoir, Box 6400, GOMAPS, Loudoun, Prince William. Pending changes for new fire station 444.

Non-valid boxes are used to identify elevated roads that do not technically intersect. For instance, two interstates do not intersect but thier associated ramps do intersect. These boxes are identified as FIRE_BOX_NUM = 99999., and are refered to as GOMAPS.
