The major transportation areas were captured using stereo models. 1997: This layer contains the major transportation edges that have been captured through various processes. The original data in this layer was captured during the 1997-2000 data conversion effort for Fairfax County. The major transportation edges were captured using stereo models. Since then the GIS office has captured major transportation edges from orthophotography by performing heads up digitizing. Prior to receiving the orthophotography, site plans are used to capture the planned major transportation edges. These different sources of the major transportation edges are indicated within the major transportation edges attributes.Contact: Fairfax County GIS DivisionData Accessibility: PublicUpdate frequency: Approximately 8 yearsCreation date: 1/1/2000Layer Name: GISMGR.MAJOR_TRANSPORTATION_AREASDataset Name: GISMGR.PLANIMETRIC
