Description: This feature class consists of fire box boundaries (last updated December 2020) for the Fire & Rescue Department. These boundaries are used in the CAD system and are used to identify the backup fire station dispatch order.This data set includes accurate fire box boundaries for Fairfax County and the City of Fairfax. Washington Dulles International Airport is not up-to-date. Other jurisdictions are included for dispatch purposes, but those box boundaries are not exact.This feature class does not accuratey reflect the first due or a homogeneous run order. As boxes are edited for other resaons, 3-deep run orders are incorporated. The edges of a box are more likely to deviate from the central 3-deep run order. Decmber 2020 changes: FIRE_BOX_EDITS attribute is temporarily used for the new 8 battation configuratation. Alias name of Batt_New. DPSC_LABEL attribute is temporarily used for the new divsions. Alias name of Division.Upcomming schema changes in late 2020 or very early 2021.Most recent changes listed first: New elevated crossings(GOMAPS) for RT 28 overpasses (12/10/20). Temporary move of last_edited_date info into Edit_Comment field to save the data during schema reconstruction (12/2020). Minor updates to minor fields & bat change (Nov-Dec 2020). Reconfiguration for I66 & RT28 (8/24/20). Minor edits & I66 WB as 18 box change and 3781 box to a 22 box on I95 NB (early Aug 2020). New Fire station 44 (July 2020), Fire station 41 split (2/2020), Shopping malls(12/2019), Rt 28 between Dulles and Fairfax, Arlington, Fort Belvoir, Box 6400, GOMAPS, Loudoun, Prince William. Pending: changes: Dulles Airtport, and City of Fairfax Area.12/20/20 3335 records. August 26, 2020: 3334 records. July 2020 total: 3,335 records. Feb 2020 total: 3300 (of which 3,171 are valid boxes). August 2019 total: 3298 records. Jan2019 total: 3166 records. Jan 2018 total: 2546 records.Non-valid boxes are used to identify elevated roads that do not technically intersect. For instance, two interstates do not intersect but thier associated ramps do intersect. These boxes are identified as FIRE_BOX_NUM = 99999, and are refered to as GOMAPS.This is the authoritative data produced by the GIS Analyst in Fire and Rescue.
