Reporting Suspected Fraud

Fraud is defined in the Fairfax County Fraud Policy as theft or intentional waste or abuse of county funds, property, or time. If you suspect or have knowledge that fraud has been committed please contact the Internal Audit Office's Fraud Hotline at (703) 787-3243.

In order to fully and properly investigate these allegations, it is extremely helpful to the Internal Audit Office if the following information is provided:

• Date of occurrence or date the issue came to your attention
• Description of the suspicious activity and names of individuals involved
• Contact information so that we may gather additional information or clarification when needed

While contact information is optional, providing such information greatly assists the investigation efforts of our office.
