Tune in to Historic Treasures of Southern Fairfax County. Fairfax County is the home of many rich and varied historic attractions that draw more than a million visitors a year. Nowhere is the county’s historic legacy more evident than in its southern corridor, along the Richmond Highway and George Washington Memorial Parkway. Here there are major historic sites in close proximity to one another that reflect not only Fairfax County’s history, but the nation’s as well.

This documentary program features highlights of these attractions, which include George Washington’s Mount Vernon, Woodlawn Plantation, River Farm, the Pohick Church and Gunston Hall. Interviews include James C. Rees, Executive Director of George Washington’s Mount Vernon; Greg Tuminaro, Curator, Woodlawn Plantation; Tom Lainhoff, Director, Gunston Hall; and Mary Ann Patterson, Director of Public Programs, American Horticultural Society (at River Farm).

This program was produced in cooperation with the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority.(CC)
