Watch Focus On Health: Pool Safety

Summer means picnics, frolicking outdoors and fun at the pool. Having fun at the pool includes being safe.  On this edition of Focus on Health: Pool Safety, learn how maintaining safe and healthy pool facilities involves a team approach including the Health Department, pool operators and you, the pool patrons. Pool owners and operators check the chemical levels of the water to keep the water safe.  Patrons play an important role in ensuring water quality by showering prior to swimming, making sure babies wear swim diapers under their suits, and refraining from swimming if they have an open wound or rash. The Health Department conducts inspections on all public pools and educates patrons and pool operators about their roles in the prevention of injuries and water-borne illness.  (CC)
