Wild Side

Watch The Wild Side of Fairfax County: Foxes

This edition of the Wild Side of Fairfax County focuses on beavers—nature’s engineer.  The beaver is the only animal that can transform its surroundings and alter its environment to suit its needs.  The Wild Side of Fairfax County  explores beavers, their habits and habitat, and the pros and cons of their activity.  For instance, the dams they construct can help to prevent flooding in certain areas, but also, these dams can impede the flow of natural as well as man-made drainage areas, causing problems.  Residents can learn more about beavers by connecting to Fairfax County’s Web site as well as using the contact information included at the end of the program.  (CC)
