Upcoming Election Officer Training Information

Training Schedule

New Election Officer Training (NEW) Required for New Election Officers who have not attended training

Electronic Pollbook Workshop (EPB) Optional for Election Officers who attended training in 2012/2013 and prefer additional training on only Electronic Pollbooks

  • Thursday, May 15th at 3:00 p.m. - Sherwood Regional Library
  • Wednesday, May 21st at 1:00 p.m.
  • Thursday, May 29th at 2:00 p.m.

Chief and Assistant Chief Training (Chief) Required for Election Officers who are serving as Chief or Assistant Chief for the first time and have already received their assignment from the Office of Elections

  • Wednesday, May 14th at 2:00 p.m. - Sherwood Regional Library
  • Thursday, May 22nd at 1:00 p.m.
  • Thursday, May 22nd at 6:00 p.m.

Pre-Election Training (PRE) Mandatory. Required for all Chiefs and Assistant Chiefs. At training, Chiefs and Assistant Chiefs are sworn in and pick-up their Election Day supplies

  • Monday, June 2nd at 10:00 a.m.
  • Monday, June 2nd at 7:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday, June 4th at 10:00 a.m. - Mount Vernon Governmental Center, Conference Room 1, 2511 Parkers Ln., Alexandria, VA 22306 (Across the street from Sherwood Regional Library)

Training Class Acronyms/Class Length

  • NEW - Officer 4-year training, approx. 2.40 hours
  • CHIEF - Chief/Assistant Chief 4-year training, approx. 3.10 hours
  • PRE - Chief/Assistant Chief Overview & Supply Pick-up, approx. 2 hours
  • EPB - EPB (Electronic Pollbook) Workshop, approx. 2 hours

  1. Provide your name and phone number
  2. Indicate your 1st class choice (you will only be contacted if your 1st choice is not available)

*If you have not yet applied to be an Election Officer, also include your home address and that you are “new”*

Note: Training is mandatory if you did not attend training in 2012 or 2013. If you attended training in 2012 or 2013, all training classes are
optional, except PRE. Mandatory Chief Briefing (offered the first week of June) for all Chiefs and Assistant Chiefs.

For Election Officers
Training Class: NEW (Officer 4-year Training - State Required)
Who Should Attend? New Officers who have not trained; or returning Officers who did not train in 2012 or 2013.
Class Duration:
2.40 hours

For Chief and Assistant Chief Election Officers
Training Class: Chief (Chief/Assistant Chief Training - State Required)
Who Should Attend?
Officers who have not served as Chief/Assistant Chief before (recommended) OR Returning Chiefs/Assistant Chiefs who did not train in 2012.
Class Duration: Approx. 3.10 hours

Training Class: PRE (Mandatory Chief Briefing - State Required) Chief and Assistant Chief overview and supplies pick-up
Who Should Attend? All assigned Chiefs, Assistant Chiefs and Stand-by Chiefs.
Class Duration:
Approx. 2 hours

Additional Workshops (Not Required)
Training Class: EPB (Electronic Pollbook) Workshop
Who Should Attend?
Officers who trained in 2012 or 2013 and need addtional EPB training only.
Class Duration: Approx. 2 hours
