August 2014 Training Schedule

New Voting Equipment Training (EQUIP) is mandatory for all RETURNING Election Officers 

  • Tuesday, August 19th at 9:00 a.m. FULL, 11:30 a.m. FULL and 2:00 p.m.FULL
  • Thursday, August 21st at 12:30 p.m. FULL, 3:00 p.m. FULL and 6:00 p.m. FULL
  • Friday, August 22nd at 9:00 a.m. FULL, 11:30 a.m.FULL and 2:00 p.m. FULL
  • Monday, August 25th at 12:30 p.m. FULL, 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. FULL

 Chief and Assistant Chief Training (CHIEF) Required for Election Officers who are serving as Chief or Assistant Chief for the first time and have already received their assignment from the Office of Elections

Pre-Election Training (PRE) Mandatory. Required for all Chiefs and Assistant Chiefs. At training, Chiefs and Assistant Chiefs are sworn in and pick-up their Election Day supplies

Training Class Acronyms/Class Length

  • EQUIP - Required for all Election Officers who previously trained in 2012, 2013 and 2014. 1 hour and 30 min.
  • NEW - Required for all New Election Officers who have not previously attended training, approx. 3 hours
  • EPB - Optional for Election Officers who have attended either EQUIP or NEW training this fall and prefer additional training on Electronic Pollbooks, approx. 2 hours
  • CHIEF - Optional for Election Officers who are serving as Chief and Assistant Chief for the first time; have already received their assignment and have attended EQUIP training this fall,  approx. 2 hours
  • PRE - Required, Chief and Assistant Chief overview and supply pick-up, approx. 2 hours

  2. Indicate your 1st class choice (you will only be contacted if your 1st choice is not available)

*If you have not yet applied to be an Election Officer, also include your home address and that you are “new”*

Note: Training is mandatory for all new (NEW) Election Officers. New voting equipment training classes (EQUIP) are mandatory for all Election Officers. All other training classes are optional except PRE, mandatory Chief briefing.

For Returning Election Officers

Optional Online Election Officer Training Information

Online training was developed by the Virginia Department of Elections to supplement the county's in-person training and to offer a convenient way for Election Officers to review processes prior to Election Day.

Note that online training does not meet the county's in-person training requirement.

Some material may differ from what is presented at in-person training. In this case, on Election day please follow the instructions you receive from the Fairfax County Office of Elections.
