Come take a turn
around the mill.

Bring your family, friends or a whole group and explore the beautifully wooded and landscaped grounds around historic Colvin Run Mill and General Store. You'll find something fun for everyone.

Venture out of your car for a leisurely afternoon enjoying the simple past-times common in the early 19th century. Have a picnic, shop at the general store for stone ground cornmeal, wheat flour and grits, "penny" candy, toys, books, snacks and drinks. Take a short stroll on the nature trail or a longer hike on the nearby Cross County or Rails to River  trails. February through December, enjoy special programs including live music, craft demonstrations, ice cream making, seasonal activities and summer camp. For more detailed information see Programs/Classes/Camps.

Highlight your visit with a tour of the restored mill - a water-powered technological marvel built c.1811. On this multi-sensory tour, you'll see the massive waterwheel and gears, feel the furrowed stones that grind grain and smell the burn of mill stones set too close together. You'll hear stories about the man whose ideas revolutionized the milling industry, the family that ran Colvin Run Mill for over 50 years, and learn about George Washington's plans for a mill on Colvin Run.

Tours can be customized for each group from interactive flip books to engage the youngest visitors to in-depth historical and engineering information to pique even the most enthusiastic history buff and engineering fan's interest.
