Frying Pan Opens Stalls to Horses Displaced by Hurricanes
The Fairfax County Park Authority and Friends of Frying Pan Farm Park are proud to announce a collaborative initiative to provide temporary homes for horses displaced by recent hurricanes. Frying Pan Farm Park (FPFP) will make 50 stalls available immediately; stall fees will be waived for all horses coming from hurricane evacuation areas.


  • Frying Pan Farm Park is located is located at 2709 West Ox Rd, Herndon, VA. FPFP is a working farm owned and operated by the Fairfax County Park Authority, a division of Fairfax County Government.
  • All stalls are located in Barn 2 and are available for immediate use.
  • Stall fees will be waived for horses arriving from evacuated areas.
  • Stall fees for all other horses will be reduced by 50 percent to $10/night.
  • All horses will need to come with negative coggins.
  • All out-of-state horses need to have health certificates.
  • Owners will need to stay in the area or arrange for care of their horses (feed and water twice a day, stall cleaning, exercise).
  • FPFP has limited room for campers (no hookups)
  • Frying Pan Farm Park does not offer turn out, care or on-site vet service.
  • Owners must bring buckets and stall hangers.
  • Friends of Frying Pan Farm Park have a limited amount of hay and bedding (shavings) on site for sale at cost. Owners are welcome to bring their own.
  • FPFP will work with owners to provide a list of local tack shops and feed stores.

Frying Pan Farm Park dates back to the 18th century and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. With assistance from the Friends of Frying Pan Farm Park, the Fairfax County Park Authority preserves and operates the farm for the educational, cultural and recreational enrichment of citizens and visitors of Fairfax County. The park includes a working farm, country store, equestrian facilities, nature trails, historic buildings and indoor/outdoor equestrian facilities for show and practice.

Frying Pan Farm Park is part of the Floris Community in western Fairfax County, known as Frying Pan from 1726 to 1892 when the name was changed to Floris. Today, the park preserves and interprets a 1920s through 1950s farm, agricultural process, rural community life and landscape for the educational, cultural and recreational enrichment of citizens and visitors of Fairfax County.

We invite you to explore our "virtual" park here on the web. It's a great way to discover the wide variety of programs we offer. But be sure to visit the "real thing" out here on the farm.

Admission is free to Frying Pan Farm Park and Kidwell Farm.

Junior Farmer Family Fun

Junior Farmer is a family program that goes behind the scenes to help the farmers at Frying Pan Farm Park. Jr. Farmers will learn about all of our barnyard animals and learn how to care, handle, and have fun with them!

Come celebrate the Halloween season with this variety event at the farm. Attendees enjoy a variety of themed games, dare to enter the slightly-spooky BOO barn, and take a wagon ride. Finish the evening with a small treat bag.
