Picnic Area Use at Lake Fairfax Limited for Stream Work
Effective immediately, the picnic areas known as A, B, C, and D at Lake Fairfax Park will not be available for public use during the week in order to safely permit continued work on a stream restoration project. Bridge Construction: The bridge leading to the campground and upper half of Lake Fairfax Park is an active construction site. Please use caution and follow any posted signs when accessing the park.
Camp Ground Closures: The group camping area or "C" Campground is closed due to construction; however the family campground or "A" Campground is open for business and is not affected by the construction within the park.
Large Shelter/Bathroom Closures: The Large Shelter and the nearby "B" Bathroom are both closed due to construction. Portable toilets have been made available to the public while the bathroom is under construction.

Hours of Operation:
Lake Fairfax Park grounds are open every day from dawn to dusk.
When bad weather strikes, the park may need to alter the normal
operating schedule. Call the office to determine the status during
November 15 - March 3 Daily: 10 a.m. - 5
March 4 – November 14 Daily: 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
For recreation and fun in western Fairfax, this 476 acre park
includes a 20-acre lake with fishing, the Water Mine family Swimmin’
Hole, boat rentals, carousel, athletic fields, picnic shelters and
picnic areas with grills, a playground, restrooms, campgrounds,
trails and a skatepark.
The Water Mine Family Swimmin’
Hole features tubing on the Rattlesnake Lazy River, a tot
pool at Tenderfoot Pond, slides, tunnels, and interactive play
features designed for young children. The Water Mine is open Memorial
Day weekend through Labor Day.

fishing license is required, and sailboats, gasoline and
electric-powered boats and swimming are prohibited in the lake.
SoccerFest Debuts at Lake Fairfax Park June 24 &
SoccerFest makes its debut at the Fairfax County Park Authority’s
Lake Fairfax Park on Saturday, June 24 and Sunday, June 25,
2017. SoccerFest 2017 will feature a fun-filled weekend of
competition, but now teams can also take advantage of some of the
exciting activities inherent to Lake Fairfax Park, including
playgrounds, a skate park and the Water Mine Family Swimmin’ Hole.
Lake Fairfax Skate Park
There are now lights at Lake Fairfax Skate Park. The lights are
timed to turn on 30 minutes before sunset. Lights will turn off at
8:15 p.m. in the skate park and 8:30 p.m. in the parking lot. In
case of inclement weather or other safety issues, the lights will
not be activated.
