Go fish!
Rent a rod from us or bring your own. We sell live and artificial bait. Fish from the river bank or by jon boat. Most commonly caught fish are sunfish and smallmouth bass. Fishing license required for those 16 yrs. and older. Go online to State of Virginia and get your license instantly. Fishing rods and bait available from 9am-6pm.
Row on the Potomac
Rent a jon boat and enjoy this tranquil section of the Potomac River. Explore islands, fish or drop anchor and relax. Rentals $15, for up to three hours. Children must weigh at least 30 lbs. Maximum of three people per boat, one must be 16 yrs. or older. Rentals available from 9am-6pm. Boating closed when river is high.
Would you prefer a guided fishing trip?
Go with a Riverbend Park Naturalist on a two-hour boat trip in search of sunfish and smallmouth bass. Reservations and advanced payment required. $85
Go kayaking!
Take a short kayak class, Fridays at 11am, then explore the Potomac River with your family. Tandem kayaks available for children 10 years and up, accompanied with an adult, and single kayaks available for people 14 years and up. Teen must have an adult on the river with them. The $25 fee includes a three hour rental following the class. Rentals available from 9am-6pm. Boating closed when river is high.
Have a picnic
Enjoy the riverside picnic area with grills or relax on the deck overlooking the Potomac River. Grills provided, bring charcoal and matches. Snacks, ice cream and drinks available for purchase.
Take a hike
Tucked away in a remote river setting, Riverbend Park has 418 acres of forest, meadows and ponds. The 10+ miles of trails include a 2.5 mile portion of the Potomac Heritage Trail linking Great Falls National Park and regional parkland.
Visitor Center
Take in the new exhibits: visit with the animals, touch rocks that were part of an ancient ocean floor, and view local Native American artifacts. Open 9am-6pm.
Play a game!
Volleyball (net and ball), corn hole, ladder golf and scavenger hunt available for rent.
Tucked away in a remote river setting, Riverbend Park has over 400 acres of forest, meadows, and ponds. Trails include a 2.5 mile portion of the Potomac Heritage Trail linking national and regional parkland. Kayakers and canoeists can enjoy exploring many islands in the Potomac River. Serious anglers and families can bring a boat or fish from the shady riverbank. Nature highlights include spectacular river views, beautiful wildflowers and birds. Park grounds are open from 7am to dusk, hours posted. Gates are locked at closing time.
Facilities include a visitor center with snack bar, gift shop, exhibits and riverside picnic area. The park also has a nature center which is available for rent call 703-759-9018. The park's picnic shelter is available by reservation. Call 703-324-8732.

River Information The upper Potomac River from Riverbend Park is a perfect spot to launch a canoe, kayak, or jon boats. NO jet skis, big boats, or tubes are permitted in this shallow rocky section. |
