The Service Members, Veterans, and Families (SMVF) regional initiative was designed to ensure that SMVF receive behavioral health and supportive services that are high quality, evidence-based, trauma-informed, culturally competent, and accessible. As with all of Virginia's Behavioral Health System Transformation Excellence and Performance (STEP-VA) plan, the SMVF Navigators are charged with improving access, quality, consistency, and accountability in public behavioral health services across the Commonwealth.
SMVF REGIONAL NAVIGATOR
The SMVF Regional Navigator is responsible for the development and implementation of regional initiatives, including oversight of regional SMVF training and capacity-building funds, collaboration with community partners at local, state, and federal levels, participation in regional SMVF initiatives focusing on suicide prevention, participating with work groups to enhance regional services/partnerships, and working to grow best practices to support individuals with military backgrounds and their families.
