The third annual Fairfax County Housing Symposium will, once again bring together elected leaders, industry professionals, policy experts, and housing advocates with the primary goal of advancing the role of affordable housing within the fabric of our community.

This year’s theme – A Foundation for Economic Recovery, Growth, and Opportunity – will include a look at the impacts of and recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic; growing personal wealth through homeownership; advancing economic mobility through housing opportunities; and the preservation/modernization of affordable housing through innovation.

This year’s event will feature distinguished speakers who will highlight local successes, industry best practices, and critical areas of focus, that will guide the ongoing advancement of affordable housing opportunities in all areas of Fairfax County.

Public-private partnerships are a valuable tool to reduce barriers to affordable housing development, particularly in high-cost areas. This session will highlight public-private partnerships that have successfully transformed Fairfax County neighborhoods and increased the number of affordable housing options.

Homeownership is critical to accumulating household wealth and maintaining strong communities. However, opportunities for homeownership are increasingly difficult in our high-cost area. This session will focus on how communities can modify and advance homeownership practices to create equity and opportunity for all residents.
