CALL TO ORDER:

Commission Chair Crawford called the Wednesday, December 6, 2023, Commission Meeting to order at 7:40 P.M.

Approval of Agenda:  It was moved by Commissioner Crawford and seconded by Commissioner Supinger that the amended agenda for December 6, 2023, be approved. The Motion passed with unanimous vote.  

Approval of Minutes:  It was moved by Commissioner Malik and seconded by Commissioner Supinger that the November 15, 2023, meeting minutes be approved, with the caveat that future meeting minutes will include the details of the motioning Commissioners. The motion passed with majority vote, with Commissioners Conde, Shumaker and Bhinge abstaining.

STAFF ISSUES: None.

COMMISSION BUSINESS: 

HRC# 2023011H / HUD# 03-23-3222-8 - Karbal, Nabilah M. v. Capuano, Susan and Torda, Thomas et. al.:  It was moved by Commissioner Conde and seconded by Commissioner Malik that the complaint be dismissed due to insufficient evidence that a violation of the Fairfax County Fair Housing Act has occurred consistent with the recommendation of OHREP. The motion passed by unanimous vote.

COMMUNITY CONCERNS:  None.

PENDING BUSINESS: None.

NEW BUSINESS:  Commissioner Crawford nominated Commissioner Malik as Vice Chair and Commissioner Conde as Secretary, and Commissioner Shumaker seconded. The motion passed unanimously.

CLOSED SESSION:

Commissioner Supinger motioned and Commissioner Malik seconded that the Commission move to closed session.

Commissioner Conde motioned and Commissioner Malik seconded that the Commission resume open session.  The motion passed by unanimous vote.

ADJOURNMENT: Commissioner Bhinge motioned and Commissioner Malik seconded that the meeting be adjourned.

 The meeting adjourned at 9:45 P.M.
