CALL TO ORDER

Commission Chair Gloria Crawford called the Wednesday, November 20, 2019 Commission meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.

Approval of Agenda: It was moved by Commissioner Malik and seconded by Commissioner Shipman that the November 20, 2019 Agenda be approved as amended, by the addition of moving Case number HRC #2016013E to be presented first. The motion passed by unanimous vote.

Approval of Minutes: It was moved by Commissioner Malik and seconded by Commissioner Crawford that the November 6, 2019 Minutes be approved as amended. The motion passed by unanimous vote.

STAFF ISSUES: Director Saunders informed the Commission about the October monthly report. The Staff closed twenty-one cases.

COMMISSION BUSINESS:

HRC #2016013E – Conciliation Agreement. It was moved by Commissioner Alber and seconded by Commissioner Malik that the Conciliation Agreement in this matter be accepted as presented. The motion passed by unanimous vote.

HRC #2015223E – Appeal. It was moved by Commissioner Malik and seconded by Commissioner Alber that staff findings be upheld, and this matter be dismissed due to no cause finding. This motion passed by unanimous vote.

HRC #2019044H – FIR. It was moved by Commissioner Malik and seconded by Commissioner Shipman that a finding of reasonable cause based on evidence sufficient

to establish that a violation of the Human Rights Ordinance has occurred consistent with the recommendation of OHREP. The motion passed by unanimous vote.

HRC #2019064H - FIR. It was moved by Commissioner Crawford and seconded by Commissioner Malik on the matter of the reasonable accommodation in reference to the son that a finding of reasonable cause based on evidence sufficient to establish that a violation of the Human Rights Ordinance has occurred consistent with the recommendation of OHREP. The motion passed by unanimous vote.

It was moved by Commissioner Crawford and seconded by Commissioner Malik on the matter of the maintenance and reasonable accommodation of the complainant that the complaint be dismissed due to insufficient evidence that a violation of the Human Rights Ordinance has occurred consistent with the recommendation of OHREP. The motion passed by unanimous vote.

COMMUNITY CONCERNS: Future Awards Program - Commissioner Crawford informed Commissioner Andres Jimenez about the Award programs and invited Commissioner Jimenez to join the Awards Program. Commissioner Jimenez informed the Commissioners that he is willing to be a part of the Awards Program.

PENDING BUSINESS: Election of Officers - Gloria Crawford will run for Commission Chair, Commissioner Malik will run for Vice Chair, and the Commission will need to vote for a new Secretary. The voting will be take place at the next meeting.

NEW BUSINESS: There is no New Business.
