Join us on Saturday, November 2, for an all-day read-in celebrating the third anniversary of Fairfax County Public Library’s 1000 Books Before Kindergarten early literacy program. Every open branch will be participating, with the goal of reading 1,000 books in a single day throughout the county. From guest readers and pop-up storytimes to themed book selections, crafts and more, branches will be hosting an array of fun activities. Details vary by branch, so check event listings for activities at your local branch. For children with adult.
Learn more about the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program in the online Early Literacy Resource Center. Any child who has not entered kindergarten is eligible to participate once he or she has heard 25 books. Sign up at any FCPL branch to receive a packet of information with reading logs to track your books and earn incentives along the way to achieving 1,000 books read prior to starting kindergarten.
