Riverbend Park Fishing

The Potomac River at Riverbend Park offers anglers of all ages fishing opportunities. Rocks and current provide excellent habitat for hard-fighting smallmouth bass. Sunfish are abundant and provide budding anglers with lots of fun. Both smallmouth bass and sunfish are great for spinning and fly anglers. The river also holds channel catfish that grow big in these waters.

Licenses

People 16 years and older must have either a Virginia or Maryland freshwater fishing license. Those under 16 years do not need a license. See the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources fishing regulations
Virginia fishing licenses can be purchased from local sporting goods stores or the DWR web site.
See the Maryland Department of Natural Resources website for Maryland Non-Tidal Fishing Regulations and for Maryland fishing licenses

Riverbend Park encourages catch-and-release fishing. The next trophy-sized fish you catch might have been released by someone else.
