Work Set To Begin on Lake Accotink Park Playground

Lake Accotink Playground RenderingThe Fairfax County Park Authority is set to begin work on the installation of a new playground at Lake Accotink Park, with construction activities slated to begin on or about Tuesday, Sept. 5, weather permitting. The playground will be installed in the same geographic footprint where a previous playground was removed in May of this year, as it had outlived its useful life span.

The new playground will feature a variety of equipment for children of all ages and abilities. The design will include a tower play structure with a winding slide, boulder climber, four swings, net climber, playhouse, dragonfly teeter-totter, musical panels, and tactile and visual features to provide children with a variety of play experiences. The project will cost approximately $300,000 and was funded through one-time funding approved by the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors at the end of third quarter in fiscal year 2023. Supplemental funds will be provided through the Fairfax County Park Authority. The project is expected to be completed in fall 2023.

Lake Accotink Park is located at 7500 Accotink Park Road in Springfield, Virginia. For more information about the playground project, please contact the Public Information office at Parkmail@fairfaxcounty.gov.

Note: The rendering above is provided to showcase the features of the new playground. There will be no impact to existing trees and landscape at the site of the installation.
