Grab your friends and your camera and celebrate National Park and Recreation Month! The Fairfax County Park Authority is holding a selfie photo contest from July 24 through July 28 to commemorate this year’s theme “Where Community Grows.” The theme is a celebration of the role that parks and recreation play in bringing people together, providing essential services and fostering the growth of our communities as residents engage with one another through play, exercise, service, special events and a wide variety of shared interests.

Celebrate with National Park and Recreation Month by participating in the 2023 Selfie Photo Contest. Get together with your community of family, friends and neighbors at Fairfax County Park Authority parks, trails and facilities and show us how you find community in the parks by sending us a selfie of your group in action! This contest is open to park-goers of all ages! Contest entries will be accepted online between 8 a.m. on Monday, July. 24 and 10 p.m. on Friday, July 28, in five categories:

• Sports and Fitness (fitness centers, golf, trail walking, running, skating, biking, athletics, etc.)
• Camps, Classes and Activities (organized FCPA programs, camps and activities, etc.)
• Water Activities (water parks, pools, boating, fishing, etc.)
• Leisure and Play (playgrounds, amusements, hiking, picnics, camping, etc.)
• Volunteer Service (service projects, volunteer groups, etc.)

One winning entry per category will be selected by a panel of judges with winning photographers being awarded their choice of Golf-themed or Water Mine-themed gift pack. Winners will be selected and notified during the first week of August.
