Pools and spas at three Fairfax County Park Authority Rec Centers will be temporarily closed for regular cleaning and maintenance. The Rec Centers will remain open to the public during the maintenance period.
The scheduled closures include:
- Cub Run Rec Center (4630 Stonecroft Blvd., Chantilly)
- Leisure and Competition Pools and Spa Closed: Aug. 21
- Competition Pool Reopens: Sept. 5
- Leisure Pool and Spa Reopen: Sept. 16
- Providence Rec Center (7525 Marc Drive, Falls Church)
- Pool and Spa Closed: Aug. 21
- Pool and Spa Reopen: Sept. 6
- Franconia Rec Center (6601 Telegraph Road, Alexandria)
- Pool and Spa Closed: Aug. 21
- Pool and Spa Reopen: Sept. 9
Fairfax County Park Authority pools experience these kinds of closures every two years to perform a deep system cleaning and necessary maintenance. The Park Authority is coordinating this needed work to minimize any inconvenience and deliver an improved experience for Rec Center members. Projects include deep cleaning of the pools and pool decks, retiling in showers and addressing other improvements throughout each center.
“In an effort to minimize the impact of this required cleaning and routine maintenance on pool patrons, this work has been intentionally scheduled during this period where pool usage has been traditionally slower than at any other point throughout the year. The Park Authority appreciates the patience and understanding of pool patrons as we conduct this work as quickly and efficiently as possible,” said Kimeshia Junkins, a regional operations branch manager with the Fairfax County Park Authority.
