Enjoy a ‘Doggone' Good Time in the Park

DogsAt the peak of this season, when the weather really heats up, you may hear the old adage — it’s the “dog days of summer.” Who better to share these dog days of summer with than your favorite, four-legged, furry friend?

The Fairfax County Park Authority offers a variety of opportunities to enjoy memorable summer activities with your dog.

Visit a Dog Park. The Fairfax County park system includes 11 dog parks where your canine companion can run, play and socialize off-leash in a safe, enclosed space. These parks provide a fantastic opportunity for dogs to exercise, make new friends and enjoy quality time with their owners. Explore the Off-Leash Dog Park webpage to find a park close to you.

Explore Fairfax County on Foot … or Paws. The Park Authority has more than 334 miles of amazing trails that you can explore with your dog. Use the Trail Buddy tool to find the perfect one.

Enjoy the Dog Daze. During Dog Daze, dogs will have the run of the Water Mine at this season-end event that benefits parks through the Fairfax County Park Foundation. Dogs can swim and frolic throughout The Water Mine at Lake Fairfax Park from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 9. Cost is $10 per dog.

Don’t Miss Countless Additional Canine Programs. The Park Authority also offers numerous programs for dog obedience, fitness, agility and more.
