Mount Vernon Supervisor Dan Storck and the Fairfax County Department of Transportation (FCDOT) will host a community meeting on the Mount Vernon Memorial Highway Trail on Monday, Dec. 9, 2019, 6:30 p.m., at the Mount Vernon Governmental Center, 2511 Parkers Lane, Alexandria. The meeting will include an Open House with display boards at 6:30 p.m., formal presentation at 7:30 p.m., and time for questions and answers.
About the Project
In accordance with the Countywide Trails Plan, the Mount Vernon Memorial Highway Trail Project completes missing segments of the Potomac Heritage National Scenic Trail between Richmond Highway and the Mount Vernon Estates for a length of approximately two miles. The trail will be located on the north side of Mount Vernon Memorial Highway. In addition, the proposed project includes construction of a new pedestrian bridge crossing Dogue Creek, a retaining wall for the bridge, curb and gutter, curb ramps, driveway entrances, drainage improvements, roadway and signage modifications, and bus stop improvements.
