Arnon Chapel was built in 1889/90 on land donated by ANNIE and GEORGE S. JOHNSON, former members of Salem Methodist Church. Arnon was part of Dranesville Circut of the Methodist Episcopal Church South and a focal point of the local community until declining membership prompted a merger with Salem Methodist in 1944. The new church became Forestville United Methodist Church, which later changed it's name to Great Falls United Methodist Church (FX012). Land for the cemetery itself was given to the Arnon Cemetery Association by George W. Wenzel.
