| BOARD OF BUILDING AND FIRE PREVENTION CODE APPEALS | |||
| Purpose: | Pursuant to County Code Section 61-2-1, to act on applications for appeals from Building Official, Fire Official, or Property maintenance Code Official decisions based on the VUSBC, the VSFPC, the Virginia Amusement Device Regulations (VADR) and Chapters 61, 64, 65, and 66 of the County Code as specified. | ||

| Membership: | Ten (10) members - County Code Section 61-2-3 stipulates that the Board shall consist of six (6) members, (4) four alternates, appointed by the Board of Supervisors. Members shall be selected on the basis of their ability to render fair and competent decisions regarding application of the VUSBC and the VSFPC. To the extent such persons may be available, the membership shall consist of individuals as follows: 1) a registered design professional who is an architect; or a builder or superintendent of building construction with at least 10 years experience, 5 of which shall have been in responsible charge of work; 2) a registered design professional with structural engineering or architectural experience; 3) a registered design professional with mechanical or plumbing engineering experience; or a mechanical or plumbing contractor with at least 10 years experience, 5 of which shall have been in responsible charge of work; 4) a registered design professional with electrical engineering experience; or an electrical contractor with at least 10 years experience, 5 of which shall have been in responsible charge of work; 5) a registered design professional with fire protection engineering experience; or a fire protection contractor with at least 10 years experience, 5 of which shall have been in responsible charge of work; and 6) property manager with at least 5 years experience. No official, technical assistant, inspector or other employee of the Dept. of Public Works and Environmental Services, Dept of Planning and Zoning, or Fire and Rescue shall serve as a member of the board.
