Virginia is in the process of expanding funding to provide services for those individuals on the Medicaid Home and Community-Based Developmental Disability (DD) Waiver (often referred to as DD Waivers) Priority One Wait List. The goal is to provide significantly more waiver slots for Virginians with developmental disability so that they can receive services and supports to improve their and their families’ lives and wellbeing.

CSB DD Waiver Information Session - April 24, 2024
The Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services has published a guide to navigating Developmental Disability Waivers in English and Spanish.
The Fairfax-Falls Church Community Services Board (CSB) coordinates community-based supports for individuals diagnosed with developmental disabilities (including intellectual disability) and for individuals admitted to or discharged from state training centers and hospitals. CSB support coordinators help individuals and families identify and link to needed services and resources.
Announcement About Additional Funding and Waiver Slots
On December 13, 2023, Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin announced an additional $300 million over the biennium to fund enough priority one waiver slots for every Virginian with a developmental disability on the waitlist.
