A Restricted Driver's License may be issued when:
- A defendant has been convicted by a judge and, as part of the sentence, the judge has ordered the defendant's driving privileges to be suspended;
- DMV has ordered a suspension as a result of an out-of-state DWI conviction; or
- DMV has suspended driving privileges due to unpaid fines and costs.
The procedure for applying for a Restricted Driver's License differs depending on what kind of suspension is being served.
